About the region:
Toronto is Canada’s largest city, the fourth largest in North America, and home to a highly diverse population. More than 180 languages and dialects are spoken in the city. Located on the shore of Lake Ontario, Toronto is a dynamic metropolis with a core of soaring skyscrapers, all overshadowed by the iconic, free-standing CN Tower. Toronto has beautiful green spaces such as the Toronto Islands, High Park, the expansive waterfront, and walking trails through ravines and leafy neighbourhoods. Our downtown is home to over 250,00 residents who enjoy the vibrant, active lifestyle it offers.
About the jouney
Toronto Pearson International Airport is connected to downtown Union Station by the UP Express train. The 25-minute trip costs (in 2018) $12.40 CA for a return ticket. Our most popular activities are the CN Tower, the Toronto Islands, the St. Lawrence Market, Crawford Lake, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto Symphony, Aquarium, McMichael Gallery, the Distillery District and Black Creek Pioneer Village. We have a Welcome Party, an evening of dinner hosting, and a Farewell Party.
Our urban setting requires the use of subway and streetcars. Ambassadors must be comfortable climbing stairs, walking several kilometres most days and sometimes navigating crowded sidewalks and timed crosswalks. It’s not quite New York, but it’s busy!
The cost of the program varies according to the choices made but is approximately $200 US. Niagara Falls is about 2 hours away and can be visited using a tour company (additional cost).
